On 04/26/2024, at 1:19 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Sand Creek Division, were dispatched to Platte Ave and Academy Blvd, east of regarding a hit and run traffic crash. Upon arrival officers determined that a pedestrian was riding a scooter east on Platte Ave when the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene by responding medical personnel. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.

I-25 / N. Nevada Ave.

On 4/24/24, around 10:00PM, CSPD received a report a vehicle driving northbound on I-25 which had driven through the guard rail and off the retaining wall, crashing near the intersection of N. Nevada Ave and the I-25 off-ramp that connects Rockrimmon Blvd. with N. Nevada Ave. Two occupants of the vehicle were transported to local hospitals with critical injuries. The Major Crash Unit responded to assist due to the complexity of the crash scene. The investigation is on-going, and at this time, no one has been taken into custody. Two lanes of I-25 northbound were shut down for a few hours until the scene was processed, and all roadways were opened at 4:40am.

****Update to ETACS 34062 Dated 2/13/2024 ****

On February 13, 2024, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to 2515 S. Academy Boulevard, to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a juvenile victim with at least one gunshot wound in a parking lot a block away. The juvenile was transported and treated for a non-life-threatening injury at a local hospital. Detectives with the Assault Unit and Armed Violent Offender Unit arrived on the scene and assumed in the investigation.

On April 23, 2024, a suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile Colorado Springs resident, was taken into custody by the Assault Unit for their role in the shooting. The juvenile is currently being held for Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, a class 5 felony. Additional arrests are anticipated.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, shortly after 12pm, The Colorado Springs Police Department was contacted by a local charter school regarding the discovery of a student in possession of a handgun. CSPD Patrol responded and conducted an investigation, CSPD SRO Unit responded to assist. It was ascertained a juvenile male had brought a handgun to school and had been showing it to other students. There were no threats made to any student with the weapon. The school administration contacted the involved student after they received reports that the student had some ammunition on campus. The suspect student was taken into custody by officers. Officers are investigating how the firearm came into the possession of the juvenile.

On 04/22/24 at 12:39PM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center began receiving calls and alarms from a bank in the 1200 block of Garden of the Gods Rd. A person robbed the bank, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash. None of the customers or employees in the bank were injured by the suspect.


About an hour later, the Communications Center received a call from a care center on Elkton Dr. regarding the suspect being on scene there. When Officers and detectives arrived there, they contacted Jeremiah Reggio who was still wearing the clothing from the time of the robbery. He surrendered a backpack with the stolen cash, and was taken into custody without incident or use of force.

On April 21, 2024, at 7:14 PM, CSPD received multiple reports of a shooting near Dorchester Park under the Tejon bridge on the Greenway Trail, approximately 1100 block of South Tejon Street. Officers arrived on scene within minutes of the call and encountered a male who had sustained multiple gunshots. Officers rendered medical aid until medical arrived on scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injury. The victim is in stable condition. Officers learned the suspect fled and was not located. The suspect is described as a white male, mid 30’s with brown hair, dark clothing. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to report it to the police.

On Saturday, April 20,2024, at approximately 10:38 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Sand Creek Division, were dispatched to the area of S Circle Dr and Winnepeg Dr regarding a traffic crash involving an automobile and a pedestrian. Upon arrival on scene, members of AMR and CSFD were providing medical treatment to the pedestrian prior to transporting the pedestrian to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the police during the investigation. Currently alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this investigation.

On 04/20/24, at 8:48AM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center began to receive 911 calls regarding a serious rollover traffic crash near Powers Blvd./Union Blvd. When the Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived they located a pickup truck which had been southbound on Powers Blvd. over Union Blvd. it left the right/west side of the roadway and rolled down the hill to the southbound Powers Blvd. on-ramp. While attending to the occupant of the truck a second vehicle left southbound Powers Blvd. and rolled partially down the hill toward the first crash location.


Crashes both seem to be related to a sudden change in the weather (freezing fog). Drugs/alcohol does not appear to be a factor.


One driver was transported to an area hospital to be treated. One driver was assessed on scene and did not need further medical care.


CDOT was contacted to apply anti-slip material to Powers Blvd. over Union Blvd.
