600 Southpointe Court
On December 7, 2024, at 4:36 PM, a burglary in progress was reported in an office in the 600 block of Southpointe Court. The reporting party explained they had been working in their office when they heard someone trying to break down the door to the business. The reporting party warned the suspect they were inside and told the suspect they were calling the police. The suspect was not deterred and broke through the door. The reporting party was able to exit while notifying the police. Officers responded and located the suspect in an office. The suspect refused to cooperate with officer’s commands. The officers utilized a conducted energy weapon – Taser to gain the suspects compliance. The suspect resisted officers’ efforts and assaulted both officers, causing minor injury. The suspect was treated for minor injury at a local hospital and later booked into CJC on multiple charges including burglary, and assault on a peace officer. The suspect had not known connection to the business. Both officers remained on duty.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 10:30 PM, El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) Detective Gonzales, working with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the EPSO Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, apprehended a suspect wanted on a warrant for homicide. The individual, considered armed and dangerous, was located in the 800 block of South 8th Street. Detective Gonzales tracked the suspect to a business parking lot and requested assistance from the CSPD Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU). CSPD TEU officers, alongside K-9 handler Officer Lofgren and K-9 Riggs, arrived on the scene while Gold Hill patrol units secured nearby businesses to ensure public safety. Upon making contact, the suspect fled on foot, clutching his waistband. Despite verbal warnings to stop and lie on the ground or the K9 would be released, the suspect ignored commands, discarding a handgun while attempting to evade arrest. K-9 Riggs was released and successfully apprehended the individual, holding him until officers took him into custody. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the arrest and was later booked into the Criminal Justice Center (CJC). He faces warrants for first-degree murder as well as failure to appear on previous charges, including motor vehicle theft, eluding, possession of a defaced firearm, and obstruction. The suspect's name is being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

5500 Powers Center Point
On 12/06/2024 at approximately 12:14PM, the CSPD dispatch center received a call for service regarding a bank robbery in the 5500 block of Powers Center Point. Members with the CSPD's Stetson Hills patrol division responded and secured the scene, finding the suspect had fled. Members from the CSPD's Robbery Unit responded and assumed command of the investigation and are actively seeking and investigating leads. Anyone with any information related to this investigation is asked to call the CSPD's non-emergent phone number at 719-444-7000.

1000 Block Kelly Johnson Bl
On 12/05/2024, CSPD received information on an attempt to locate of a stolen vehicle involved in two bank robberies in the Denver area. At approximately 0203 hours, officers from the Falcon Division located the vehicle travelling within the division and tracked it to a hotel in the 1000 block of Kelly Johnson Bl. When officers initiated contact, the driver attempted to flee in the vehicle, crashing into a fence. A short foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was found to have several outstanding warrants and was booked into the El Paso County Jail. Information gathered during this incident was relayed to detectives for their ongoing investigation.

600 blk N. Circle Drive
Officers of the Sand Creek division located a stolen truck at a business in the 600 blk of N. Circle Drive. As officers moved to contact the stolen truck, it drove forward into a police cruiser pushing it backwards. The truck was able to escape officers in the parking lot. No officers were injured, and the stolen truck and suspect were not apprehended at this time.

Disturbance
3100 Block of Boychuk Avenue
On December 4, 2024, at approximately 9:45PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of an active domestic disturbance involving a knife which was occurring in the 3100 block of Boychuk Avenue. Officers responded and found the suspect had left this location just prior to their arrival. The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Trey Gaffron, who was wanted on several active arrest warrants. Officers located Trey Gaffron in the area and he ran into a drainage tunnel under Academy Boulevard where he remained. Officers spoke with Trey Gaffron and, after approximately 40 minutes, convinced him to walk out of the drainage tunnel where he was taken into custody without incident. Trey Gaffron was arrested on his active arrest warrants as well as new charges to include Felony Menacing and Attempted 2nd Degree Assault.

6500 blk of N. Academy Blvd
In the early morning hours of 12/3/2024, CSPD officers responded to a burglary of a business in the 6500 block of N. Academy Blvd. Officers arrived to find that suspects had intentionally driven a vehicle into the front of the business causing approximately $10,000 in damage. The suspects then entered the store, stole vape products valued at approximately $2000, then left the area in a second stolen vehicle. Investigators with the Metro Burglary Unit conducted follow-up investigation and immediately identified one of the involved suspects. That suspect, a juvenile male, was taken into custody around 1pm. During his arrest, the suspect kicked two police officers and spit at a third officer. He was subsequently charged with offenses including motor vehicle theft, burglary, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, obstruction, and assault on a peace officer. He was subsequently remanded into custody at Zebulon Pike Youth Services Center. This juvenile offender has been arrested/released four times this year for offenses including reckless endangerment, assault, trespass, and failing to appear to court proceedings. He was most recently released by DYS on 11/26/24 to his parent/guardian on a personal recognizance bond.

200 blk S. Academy Blvd
Officers of the Sand Creek division were driving in the area of the 100 blk of S. Academy when they observed a stolen vehicle with damage. The occupants turned into an apartment complex and fled on foot. One of the juvenile occupants was arrested after a brief foot chase. The other occupant was not located. The stolen vehicle was determined to be involved with an attempted Burglary (ramming the vehicle into a business) in the area just before officers located the vehicle. The business suffered significant damage, but entry was not gained. The juvenile was charged with multiple felonies (J-Summons) and released to a parent.

6500 Block of N. Academy Blvd.
On 12-03-24 at approximately 0237hrs officers of the Falcon Division were dispatched to investigate a burglary in the 6500 Block of N. Academy Blvd. Video surveillance shows an unknown vehicle ram into the front of the business twice before entry was gained. Four unknown suspects wearing dark clothing and possible face coverings entered the business and stole an undetermined amount of merchandise. The suspect vehicle was later recovered one block away and determined to be an unreported steal (CSPD Case# 2024-00450363). Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department Metro Burglary Unit were notified of the incident.

Officers from the Sand Creek Division responded to the 1200 Block of Kingsley Drive for a report of a shooting. The party who was shot was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. The Domestic Violence/Adult Sexual Assault unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. All parties have been accounted for. ****** UPDATE ******* An arrest has been made in this case. The arrested adult is 26 year old Hannah Viramontes who suffered a gun shot wound and was found at a nearby park. Hannah remains hospitalized in custody and is expected to survive her injuries. Hannah is charged with kidnapping and sexual assault. This is the only arrest in this case at this time and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
