On 11/30/22 at about 4:52AM, Officers from the Sand Creek Division were on scene of a traffic crash at the intersection of Fountain Blvd. and Powers Blvd. when a vehicle being driven southbound on Powers Blvd. sideswiped the side of a marked police vehicle that had its emergency lights activated. This vehicle fled the scene. No officers were injured. Officers are following up to identify and cite the involved driver.

Location
On 11/29/22, MVT detectives located a stolen Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Detectives had information this vehicle may be linked to robbery suspect Ricardo Huizar. The stolen vehicle was parked near a residence where family members of Huizar live. MVT and Fugitive detectives set up surveillance on the residence and observed a female arrive in a VW SUV. A male and female loaded up in the SUV and drove over to where the stolen Jeep Cherokee was parked. TEU officers moved in to contact the suspects and the male party attempted to flee on foot. Officers gave chase and apprehended him, confirming it was Ricardo Huizar. Huizar had 6 felony warrants for his arrest. The CSPD Robbery unit was notified of the arrest.

2200 E Las Vegas St

On Tuesday November 29, 2022, at 7:50 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Gold Hill Division, were dispatched to the 2200 block of E Las Vegas St regarding a two-vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival officers discovered the crash involved a roll off trash truck and a small car. On scene investigation found the truck was headed south on Las Vegas and the car was traveling north. It appears that the car crossed over the median and was struck by the truck. The injuries to the driver of the car were fatal and the driver was deceased on scene. Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of November 29, 2022 at 6:20AM due to inclement weather. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Coloradosprings.gov, go to the Police Department link, select the "Online Reporting" link and select “Report a Minor Traffic Accident” for instructions. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them.

On November 28, 2022, at 8:03 PM, victim entered one of the businesses reporting they had been stabbed. Colorado Springs Police Department, Fire Department, and AMR responded. The victim was transported to the hospital, for non-life-threatening injury. The victim reported the suspect was behind another nearby business. Officers responded and located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The weapon was recovered. The quick response by officers prevented the suspect from leaving the area.

Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Riviera Grove to investigate a reported physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival the victim was contacted outside of the residence. The victim stated the suspect was still inside the residence and that they had access to home made weapons and a taser. Officers, with the assistance of K-9 and the unmanned air vehicle unit contacted the suspect who was highly agitated, yelling at officers, and initially non-compliant with verbal commands. Utilizing de-escalation techniques the suspect was brought into custody without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Dublin Boulevard @ Flintridge Drive

On November 27, 2022, at 11:01 PM, a single car crash occurred at Dublin Boulevard and Flintridge Drive. The single vehicle struck a traffic control signal pole which ended up in the roadway. The driver and sole occupant was transported to the hospital. Speed and alcohol are factors in the crash. Moments after the first crash occurred a secondary crash occurred with another motorist striking the downed traffic control signal pole.

The intersection of Flintridge and Dublin Boulevard is closed while the down poles and lighting are removed. The roadway closure is expected to last until mid-morning on November 28, 2022. Drivers should find alternate routes and avoid this area. Until the signals are re-installed the intersection will be posted as a four way stop.

Sometime in the early morning hours, the victim, witness, and suspect were in the victim's car at the park. The suspect pulled out a handgun and started shooting at unknown objects. The suspect was standing near the victim, who was still seated in the car with his feet outside on the pavement, when the suspect shot the victim in the foot. The victim and witness fled the area in the car and at about 1236pm reported the shooting to a 7-11 clerk. The victim drove himself to a local hospital where officers met them. The suspect is still unidentified at this time. but is a White male, about 6'1" athletic build, blue eyes and silver hair, about 55 years old, last seen wearing tan overalls. The suspect is only known to the victim as "Mustang."

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, at approximately 6:30PM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at S. Nevada Ave and E. Las Vegas St. Upon arrival officers located a victim who was severely bleeding and unresponsive. Medical aid was provided, and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
Ultimately, El Paso County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death, but at this time the death is being investigated as a homicide. The victim is an adult male. There have been no arrests made at this time.

On 11/26/2022 at approximately 0432 hours, officers responded to the 3900 block of Thundercloud Dr. in reference to a shots fired call for service. While officers were checking the area, a firearm that was discharged in the area. One round was fired was fired toward a cruiser leaving the area. Multiple officers secured the area and conducted a thorough sweep to attempt to locate a suspect for several hours. No suspect was located. Property damage was sustained to a single home from one round. We are asking for assistance from the public that is any evidence of a crime or anything suspicious is seen please contact Colorado Springs Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
