2400 block of Tremont Street
Location
Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Tremont Street. Upon arrival officers learned a resident had been beating on neighbor’s doors with a bat and making homicidal threats. When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he threatened officers with an aluminum bat. Officers challenged the suspect, who retreated inside his apartment and locked the door. Officers were able to persuade the suspect to exit his apartment and he was taken into custody. The suspect was transported to a medical facility and while being escorted inside; the suspect kicked one officer. The suspect was later transported to the El Paso County Jail without further incident.

On Saturday, 01/21/23 at approximately 1915 hours, officers with the Stetson Hills division were dispatched to an injury crash at the intersection of North Academy Blvd. and Meadowland Blvd. Upon arrival, it was determined that vehicle #1, an Audi sedan, was traveling northbound on Academy Blvd. approaching the intersection with Meadowland Blvd. when the traffic signal turned yellow. Vehicle #2, a Ford Escape, was southbound on Academy Blvd. attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Meadowland Blvd. As the traffic signal turned yellow, vehicle #2 entered the intersection and was struck by vehicle #1. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

E Woodmen Rd/Tutt Bl
Location
Officers from the Stetson Hills Division responded to the intersection of E. Woodmen Rd and Tutt Bl. for a collision involving a city snowplow and another vehicle. The other vehicle and the snowplow were side by side travelling east on Woodmen Road approaching Tutt Bl. It is suspected that the driver of the other vehicle had a medical event causing him to drift into the side of the snowplow. After contacting the plow, the other vehicle continued drifting to the right striking a traffic signal pole and coming to rest in a field. The driver of the vehicle was extricated by members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Major Crash Team responded and assisted with the investigation.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of 01/20/2023 at 17:18 hours due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at cspd.coloradosprings.gov, go to the CSPD homepage and select “report a minor traffic accident” for instructions. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them. Drivers should use streets and roadways less hazardous in winter driving conditions. Drivers also need to remove snow and ice obstructing their vision and have adequate snow tires on their vehicles.

Austin Bluffs Parkway at Rangewood Drive
Location
On the above date and time, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Rangewood Drive, on a report of a multiple vehicle Crash. Once on scene, officers established that the crash involved 5 vehicles. A pickup truck was north on Austin Bluffs Parkway and struck multiple vehicles who were stopped in traffic at the light, north bound at Rangewood Drive. Three drivers were transported to local hospitals. The crash is currently still under investigation.

On January 17, 2023, at approximately 8:45 AM, detectives with the Assault unit and the Armed Violent Offender unit took Colorado Springs resident Frederick Richardson into custody for the January 13th shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Gahart Drive. Richardson was transported to the El Paso County jail where he is being held for First Degree Assault.

Officers responded to a call for a shooting. On arrival, officers located an adult male suffering a gunshot wound. The male was transported to a hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries for the male victim is unknown at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

On the above date and time, Gold Hill officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of South Circle Drive to respond to an assault in progress. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who was physically assaulted by an unknown suspect. During this investigation, officers learned that the victim had been struck in the head with a blunt object. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Prior to police arrival the suspect fled the scene. Currently the suspects are unidentified, and this investigation is still ongoing.

4100 Meadowland Bl
Location
Officers were in the 4100 Block of Meadowland Boulevard attempting to locate a wanted party. While attempting to contact him they located a stolen trailer in the driveway. The wanted party was placed in custody when he exited the house. He denied anyone else was there. He was transported to the criminal justice center. Officers drafted a search warrant, which was executed with the assistance of the Tac Team, K-9 and Drone unit. Two additional wanted parties were located hiding in the residence. The investigation led to the recovery of two stolen excavators, a stolen truck, and an additional stolen trailer. Other items of evidence involving fraud were recovered in the house.
