Location
A CSPD Officer was traveling northbound on I-25 approaching the S. Tejon Street overpass when a deer jumped over the median and struck the vehicle. At the time, the officer was responding to a priority one call for service and was traveling in the northbound inside lane. The deer struck the driver side hood, quarter panel, windshield, and door causing significant damage. The officer was able to move the vehicle onto the shoulder and remove the dead deer from the road. No other vehicles were involved and the officer was not injured.

2800 Dublin Boulevard
Location
Officers from the Stetson Hills Division responded to multiple calls of shots fired in an apartment complex near the 2800 block of Dublin Boulevard. Upon arrival officers developed information on the apartment where the shots may have come from. A male was contacted exiting the apartment. He had a handgun concealed on his person and he was intoxicated. The male indicated there was an additional intoxicated person with a firearm in the apartment. TEU was notified and sent out a TAC team to assist. Efforts to contact the party inside met with negative results. A search warrant was obtained. the male surrendered without incident. An additional firearm and evidence of the shots fired was collected from the apartment.

4600 block of Edison Avenue
Location
On 11/04/2023 at approximately 0343 hours the Colorado Springs Police Department's Communications Center received a call for service of shots fired in the 4600 block of Edison Avenue. Officers responded to the area to investigate and attempt to locate any possible victims.

While officers were on scene, the Communications Center received a call for service that a victim of a shooting was dropped off at UC Health Memorial Central Hospital at 1400 East Boulder Street. The on scene investigation revealed that it was likely that the victim was involved in the shots fired call in the 4600 block of Edison Avenue.

While officers were still on scene, several individuals arrived back at the location on Edison Avenue. Officers detained three individuals for further investigation. Two of the individuals were found to have warrants for their arrest, unrelated to this case. A magazine for a handgun was located in the pocket of one of the individuals and a handgun was located in the trunk of the vehicle that the individuals arrived in.

The two individuals who had warrants were placed into custody for those warrants and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

The victim sustained at least one non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was also found to have a warrant for his arrest, unrelated to this case.

This investigation is active and ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time regarding this specific shooting.

I-25 between Uintah Street and Interquest Parkway

On November 3, 2023, at approximately 0059 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department received reports of a wrong way driver travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-25, near Uintah Street. Officers from both the Gold Hill and Falcon divisions were dispatched to locate the vehicle. The vehicle was intercepted in the area of Woodmen Road and a stop was attempted. The driver failed to yield and continued to drive northbound in the southbound lanes, endangering the public. While the initial officers were attempting to stop the vehicle, other officers were able drive ahead of the vehicle and stop southbound traffic in the area of Interquest Parkway. As officers were stopping the traffic, the vehicle continued to drive northbound, where it struck a marked CSPD cruiser, causing severe damage.

The driver was found to be a 16 year old female under the influence of alcohol, driving to Castle Rock. No officers or citizens were injured in this incident. The Colorado State Patrol was also involved and assisted with the scene. Three lanes of southbound I-25 were closed while officers investigated the scene.

UPDATE to ETACS #32756 : On 11/02/23 at approximately 1415 hours, the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) received information from the Colorado Springs Park Rangers advising they had a visual on the suspect that ran from officers on 10/27/23. HOT Officers responded to the area and with the direction of the Park Rangers Supervisor, HOT Officers located the female suspect along the Midland trail south of the 3100 block of West Colorado Ave. After a short foot pursuit, HOT Officers took the female in custody on 2 Misdemeanor warrants, Misdemeanor Possession of a Scheduled II controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Obstructing a Police Officer. Additionally, the Suspect was cited for Interference and Camping in Parks regarding the incident on 10/27/23. Arrested was Emaralis Rivera-Torres (38).

On Wednesday November 1, 2023, CSPD Officers were sent to the 100 Block of Aeration View to assist Homeless Outreach Team officers contact a male who was wanted on several warrants. The male resisted officers’ attempts to take him in to custody by displaying and threatening officers with a hatchet. The male was eventually taken into custody. No one to include the suspect or officers were injured. The male was subsequently transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. There is no danger to the community at large.

Location
Colorado Springs Police responded to the report of a vehicle crash at the intersection of S. Cascade Ave and Colorado Ave. Investigation revealed that the adult male driver had intentionally committed the crash to commit suicide. In addition to the intentional crash, the male driver set the interior of the vehicle on fire. CSFD responded and extinguished the fire. The male party was transported to a local hospital for life threatening injuries. An evacuation order was placed for the immediate area until the fire was contained.

The investigation is continuing.

On October 31, 2023, at approximately 0451 hours, Officers from Sand Creek Division and Officers assigned to the Airport Unit were dispatched to a road rage incident which occurred on airport property near Milton Proby Parkway and Peak Innovation. The reporting party advised the suspect shot at his vehicle. The round penetrated the front passenger side of the victim’s vehicle and hit the victim in the right thigh. The bullet did not penetrate the victim’s skin and was stopped by his wallet which was in the side cargo pocket of his pants. The victim provided a description of the vehicle. Airport property and surrounding business parking lots were checked for the suspect vehicle however it was not located. The investigation is continuing.

On 10/31/23, at 0347hrs, Sand Creek patrol officers were completing paperwork at a parking lot in the 1800 block of S Chelton Rd, when a vehicle pulled up about 30 feet from them in the parking lot. A suspect leaned out of the rear passenger window and pointed an object at officers that appeared, from its shape and from how the suspect held it, to be a firearm. No shots were fired. The vehicle fled the area, and officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Location
Gold Hill units responded to a traffic accident involving a sedan and CSFD Engine 4 on I25 near the Tejon Street overpass. Engine 4 had responded to an unrelated traffic accident and was stationary in the northbound lane when it was side swiped by the sedan. There were no reported injuries and both vehicles were able to move off the interstate on their own. The driver of the sedan was cited for careless driving.
