On 2/6/24, at approximately 1151 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a reported bank robbery in the zero hundred block of N. Cascade Ave. Upon arrival officers spoke with staff who reported an adult male entered the bank and passed a note demanding money. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. Responding officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. On 2/7/24, at approximately 1006 hours, an officer from the Downtown Area Response Team was in the area of Dorchester Park, when a male matching the bank robbery suspect description was observed and contacted. Detectives from the Robbery Unit responded and after an interview the suspect was arrested. The male party arrested was 35-year-old, Kyle Miller.

On the above date and time, a police vehicle and a civilian vehicle were East in the 2400 block of Maizeland Road. A large box truck was West at the same location and struck a non-electrical wire. The wire snapped and struck the police vehicle causing moderate damage, and then struck the civilian vehicle causing minor damage. no one was injured.
On February 6th, 2024 at approximately 11:15 AM, The Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 3200 N Chestnut St. Officers from the Falcon Division responded and found unknown suspects fired a handgun at a victim at close range and then fled the scene. No one was injured during the incident. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

Upon arriving, officers located the vehicle, which was stolen. Upon waking up, the driver of the stolen vehicle struck a police vehicle, jumped a curb, and fled the scene. In doing so, they drove over a spike strip and deflated a tire, causing them to abandon the vehicle, which was recovered by police nearby. The occupants then fled through the neighborhood on foot. Police canvassed the area, but have not located the suspects at this time.

On 02/06/24 at approx. 0220hrs, CSPD Officers were dispatched on a robbery with a weapon at a convenience store in the 800 block of N. Nevada Ave. Two additional incidents involving the same suspects occurred in the 4800 Block of Barnes Road and 3200 Block of Austin Bluffs Parkway. Upon arrival officers were advised the suspects had threatened the clerks with a weapon and left the area with an undisclosed amount of money. Shots were fired by the suspects during the third incident. No injuries were reported. Suspects are still at large. The CSPD Robbery Unit was advised and have assumed responsibility for this investigation. The investigation is on-going. All future updates will be provided by the CSPD Public Information Office as appropriate for the report of a robbery with a weapon.

6400 Block Rocky Bluff Point

Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence disturbance involving shots fired in the 6400 Block of Rocky Bluff Point. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had shot a dog multiple times without provocation. The dog was being walked by a friend to the owner. Originally officers believed this could be connected to a stalking case. Through investigation, officers learned the dog had been involved in an altercation with another dog weeks prior. The owner of the other dog had plotted revenge and when the walker identified the dog as “Zoey” the suspect shot the dog multiple times. Officers contacted the suspect at his residence and took him into custody without incident.
**Update: As of 02/04/2024 at 1205 hours, CSPD is no longer on Accident Alert status.
The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of 10:00AM, on Saturday, 02/03/2024 until further notice. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic crash with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made, providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations, or they can go on line at coloradosprings.gov. On 2/02/2024, at approximately 2239 hours, Sand Creek officers responded to a convenience store at 5300 Airport Road to investigate a reported robbery with a weapon. During this incident, a male entered the convenience store, produced a handgun, and demanded money from the store clerk. The male then left with an undisclosed amount of cash in a dark colored truck prior to police arrival.
On 2/03/2024, at approximately 0026 hours, officers observed the dark colored truck from the robbery in the 4300 block of Airport Road. Officers attempted to stop and contact the truck, but the truck failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The truck was eventually stopped in the 3000 block of West Colorado Avenue after a PIT maneuverer was performed. The truck was later found to be stolen.
The driver of the truck, 23 year old Kristoval Diaz, was identified as the male from the earlier convenience store robbery. Mr. Diaz was arrested on several charges to include Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, and DUI.
