Title
4600 North Carefree Circle
Location
On January 29, 2024, around 0800, detectives from the Violent Offender Task Force conducted follow-up activities in the 4600 Block of North Carefree Circle. During this operation, they identified an individual with 5 outstanding felony warrants, including a 2023 warrant for 2nd Degree Assault and a 2024 warrant for Felony Extortion. These warrants were related to incidents where the subject had fired rounds into a victim's residence with a handgun. The individual, a previously convicted felon, was suspected to be in possession of the firearm involved in these Domestic Violence incidents and was considered a threat to victims and officers.

The VOTF Detectives formulated a plan to apprehend the subject by trapping his vehicle and effecting an arrest. With the assistance of the CSPD Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) Tac Team, they closed in on the subject's vehicle, preventing any escape. Initially resistant to exiting the vehicle, the subject ignored commands from detectives. Subsequently, detectives deployed OC powder into the vehicle, prompting the subject to exit. The apprehension was carried out without injury.

Upon the subject's arrest, a handgun and a significant quantity of cocaine, prepared for distribution, were discovered on his person. Further investigation led VOTF detectives to secure a search warrant for the subject's residence. Executing the warrant revealed over a pound of cocaine and 15 firearms, three of which were reported as stolen. The subject's identity is currently withheld due to the ongoing investigation into a convicted felon possessing a substantial number of firearms and narcotics.

The VOTF detectives are commended for successfully apprehending a dangerous fugitive who had been eluding arrest for approximately a year. Additionally, their efforts led to the recovery of 15 unlawfully possessed firearms and the confiscation of over one pound of cocaine.
