On 1/18/2023 at approximately 8:29 PM, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 4000 block of Colony Hills Cir. Officers arrived in the area and contacted a juvenile female with a serious gunshot wound. The female was transported to a local medical facility and deemed stable by medical professionals. During the course of the investigation, it is believed this is an isolated incident in which the home the victim was within was targeted by gunfire. The CSPD Assault Unit responded to the scene, wrote search warrants on a potential suspect vehicle and their residence and greatly assisted in this investigation. The investigation is ongoing and there are no known threats to the community.

Location
On 1/16/24, at approximately 1935 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department was dispatched to a reported shooting in the 3700 block of El Morro Road. Officers arrived in the area and contacted an adult male suffering from a nonlife threatening gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local medical facility. While officers were investigating the incident a second adult male arrived at the hospital with a nonlife threatening gunshot wound from the same incident. As officers were on scene, they contacted a vehicle believed to be associated with the shooting. An adult male and juvenile male were contacted, and a firearm was recovered. The investigation is ongoing and there are no threats to the community.

4900 Block of Jedidiah Smith Rd

On 01/16/24, at 0919 hours, CSPD was notified of a single-vehicle crash in the 4900 Block of Jedidiah Smith Rd. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and transported the single occupant of this vehicle to a nearby hospital for life-threatening injuries. Based on this information the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The investigation revealed a vehicle was southbound in the 4900 block of Jedidiah Smith Rd at a high rate of speed failed to negotiate a curve in the road and lost control. This vehicle left the roadway, went through several fences, and ended up in a drainage ditch near the intersection of Pring Ranch Rd and Jedidiah Smith Rd. The 4900 Block of Jedidiah Smith Rd closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene. Speed is a factor in this crash and impairment is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

On 01/15/2024 at 5:12 PM, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Falcon division were dispatched to the intersection of Austin Bluffs Pkwy and Meadow Ln regarding a traffic crash. Upon arrival, officers determine that the driver of one of the vehicles involved was deceased. Due to the nature of the crash, the MCT was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. It is still early in the investigation and detectives are working to determine the proximate cause of the crash. Early investigation indicates that speed and impairment may be contributing factors.

2800 Blake Drive

On January 15,2024 at about 7:07AM officers from the Sand Creek Division Shift 1 were dispatched to the area of 2800 Blake Drive regarding a missing at-risk adult. The reporting party indicated that his 74-year-old wife suffers from dementia and left the home at about 5:00 am. She was wearing a light jacket, hat, and hiking boots. Officers responded and began checking the home and the area with no luck. Because of the extreme weather officers from the SED Unit responded and a drone and K-9 were deployed to assist in the search. Search efforts were unsuccessful. Information was disseminated to the press and on “X”. El Paso County search and rescue was notified and was responding when the female was found. At about 9:07am a citizen called police and reported they found the missing person in 5600 Painted Sky View. She was not injured and returned home.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of 11:10AM, on Monday, 01/15/2024 until further notice. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic crash with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made, providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations, or they can go on line at coloradosprings.gov. From coloradosprings.gov, go to the CSPD homepage and select “Cold Reporting-Report a Minor Traffic Accident” from the "Quick Links" section and follow the instructions.

On 01/15/24 at 7:50AM, numerous 911 calls began coming into the CSPD/CSFD Communications Center regarding a house fire in the 2800 block of Concord St. Many CSFD resources responded and CSPD provided scene security and traffic control. It was found that the home was not involved, but a large detached garage containing a vehicle parked in the garage and a vehicle parked near the garage were also destroyed. No persons were injured. The exact cause of the fire will be determined and released by CSFD.

On the above date and time the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of a rollover traffic crash in the 2800 block of S Circle Dr. At the time of this entry the investigation is continuing. S Circle Dr is currently closed both directions, with westbound traffic being diverted onto Janitell Rd near the McDonalds, and eastbound traffic being diverted onto Janitell Rd near Harrison High School. Citizens are advised to avoid the area until the roadway is re-opened.

On 01/12/2024 at approximately 2210 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department Communications Center received multiple calls for an explosion in the area of /Costilla Street and El Paso Street.

On 01/13/2024 at approximately 0854 hours officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance. Upon their arrival officers located what appears to be parts from an explosive device. Members from the Colorado Springs Police Department Explosives Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) responded, processed the scene and will take over the investigation.
