On 4/13/2024 at approximately 1822 hours Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Inverness Dr. regarding a shooting. During the investigation officers discovered there were two groups of people who exchanged gunshots. It appears the groups were shooting at each other. The initial investigation indicates this does not appear to be a random act of violence. The investigation is ongoing.

3400 Sinton Rd.
Location
On 04/13/24 Officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 3400 block of Sinton Rd. for a criminal mischief (vandalism). The suspect was gone when officers arrived. Once the suspect was identified it was found he had an outstanding felony warrant for domestic violence burglary. A short while later the primary officer saw the suspect walking on Sinton Rd. toward the hotel. The officer contacted the suspect who immediately fled on foot. Multiple other officers responded and took part in the 1/2 mile foot pursuit. The suspect ran across Monument Creek and was taken into custody near the 300 block of Karen Ln. by a sergeant without incident and without any use of force.



The arrested party was also linked to an earlier assault at Fillmore St./Cascade Ave. where he assaulted a stranger.



The suspect, Grover Tarver, was arrested on his felony warrant and is also facing additional charges from the assault and vandalism.

On the above date and time, a call for service was received regarding a stranger danger incident. Information was received that a middle school student was approached by a stranger who was driving a white vehicle, possibly a van. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5-6 to 5-7, in his late 40’s with a short black/gray beard. The suspect wore a black shirt and dark blue jeans. The student was able to get away and ran home to report the incident. No contact was made with the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.

At around 5:00am officers were dispatched to shooting call in the 3100 Block of Lange Terrace. When officers arrived on scene they located two deceased individuals. The Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

At this time, all parties who are believed to be involved are accounted for.

1575 Space Center Dr

On 4/9/2024, VOFTF detectives located a vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart belonging to wanted suspect Eric Dixon. Dixon had an active warrant for his arrest for domestic violence felony menacing and was reported to be armed with a handgun. Detectives observed Dixon shopping inside of the Wal-Mart with the victim. A plan was formulated to contact Dixon as he exited the store and additional resources from K-9 and TAC Teams was requested. Dixon and the victim exited the store and units moved in to contact Dixon. Dixon attempted to flee on foot and was contacted by CSPD K-9 Milo. After Dixon was placed in handcuffs, detectives found a handgun and extra magazine in a holster along his waist. Dixon was medically cleared at a local hospital and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

On 04/07/24 at 12:14PM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center began receiving 911 calls regarding a serious/injury crash involving four vehicles at the intersection of Woodmen Rd./Union Blvd. When police officers and firefighters arrived they tended to injured parties. Multiple vehicle occupants were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. Speed, red light running and drugs all may be factors in this crash.


Multiple lanes of Woodmen Rd. and Union Blvd. are closed and may be for awhile longer due to the investigation. All of WB Woodmen Rd. traffic is being diverted onto NB Union Blvd.

4900 Block of Spotted Horse Dr

On April 7, 2024, at approximately 0345 hours officers from the Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to the 4900 block of Spotted Horse Drive to investigate a traffic crash and vehicle arson. Upon arrival officers discovered a stolen motor vehicle had crashed into a tree and then was intentionally set on fire. Unknown suspects fled the area prior to the arrival of CSFD and CSPD personnel. CSFD extinguished the fire. There was no property damage, and no persons were injured. CSPD Regional Explosives Unit was notified of the incident.

This incident is still under investigation.

Intersection of E. Boulder St. and N. Weber St.
Location
On 04/05/24 at1109 hours, CSPD was notified of a two-vehicle crash in the Intersection of E Boulder St and N Weber St involving a Colorado Springs Fire Truck and a vehicle. Emergency personnel on the scene rendered aid to the driver of the involved vehicle. This driver was transported to a nearby hospital for serious injuries. Based on this information, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The Fire Truck was responding northbound on N Weber St with lights and sirens to a structure fire. As it was entering the intersection of E Boulder St and N Weber St, the car was traveling northbound on N Weber St entering the same intersection and began to make a left turn to travel westbound on E Boulder St. The Fire Truck and vehicle collided in the intersection. The crash scene was closed for several hours while investigators completed their work. The investigation is ongoing.

On 04/05/24 an officer from the Falcon Division was investigating a domestic violence call for service. During the course of the investigation the suspect was found to have multiple felony warrants and was located at a family member's home in the 2000 block of Winston Rd. An officer spoke to a resident who confirmed that the wanted person was inside, but they would not cooperate with officers. The wanted suspect attempted to flee from the home a couple of times but retreated back inside. Eventually the wanted suspect exited the home and was taken into custody without incident or use of force.

800 S. Union Blvd
Location
At approximately 7:41 AM, CSPD received a 911 call of shots fired in the area of S. Union Blvd and Whitman Road. Officers arrived on scene and determined that the incident appeared to be domestic violence related between a boyfriend and girlfriend. A male suspect reportedly fired multiple shots into a vehicle. A female driving the car was able to drive away. The female had two family members in the vehicle with her. No one was hit, but one family member in the vehicle was transported to the hospital as a precaution for minor injuries related to broken glass. The male fled the area of S. Union and Whitman on foot, heading toward E. Fountain Blvd and reportedly fired more shots. The suspect was taken into custody without incident when he was contacted by CSPD officers at approximately 8:05 AM in the area of E. Fountain and Doniphan Drive. Detectives with DVASA later responded and assisted with the investigation.
