On February 28, 2024, at approximately 4:56 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call for service regarding shots fired at High Meadows Park. Prior to officers' arrival on the scene two victims left via personal vehicle. Officers and medical personnel contacted them at North Carefree Avenue and Powers Boulevard. Both victims were transported from there to an area hospital. One of those victims had serious, life-threatening injuries and later died due to those injuries at the hospital.
The CSPD homicide unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. At this time a suspect is not in custody. This is not believed to be a random act of violence and investigators are working to develop suspect information.

On 02/27/24 at 1043AM, Officers from the Stetson Hills Division were in the area of Palmer Park Bl and N. Academy Bl when they heard several gun shots north of them. Officers drove down East La Salle Street where witnesses reported seeing a male shooting at another male. Officer quickly contained the area. Shell casings were recovered in the street and an unoccupied vehicle was struck by at least one round. After officers determined the shooter had left the area, the roadway was opened. At this time, it does not appear anyone was struck by the gun fire.
On 02/26/24 at approximately 0135 a call was received in the 3600 block of Michigan Ave of a domestic disturbance. The victim had come home at approximately 0100 hours and found that the suspect had damaged the inside of the residence and was very agitated. It was later learned that during the disturbance the suspect assaulted the victim and then went outside and fired a gunshot into a brick pillar outside of the residence. The suspect then left the residence and has not been located.

On the above date and time an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department aired that he had been involved in a crash at the intersection of N Academy Bl and E Platte Ave. Investigation revealed the officer was making a left turn on a protected green turn arrow when the other involved vehicle (a red Chevy truck) ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the marked Chevy Tahoe with the front end of the truck. The marked Tahoe rolled onto the roof off the side of the road, but the officer was able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries. The other involved driver admitted to running the red light and was ultimately arrested for numerous traffic charges including DUI. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

On 02/23/2024, 12:29 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department Sand Creek division were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic crash in the 2500 block of East Pikes Peak. Upon arrival, officers discovered a single vehicle was traveling westbound, left the roadway and struck a retaining wall. Medical personnel on scene performed life saving measures, but the driver was deceased. 2800 Block Hayman Terrace

On February 22, 2024, at approximately 1855 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Hayman Terrace to investigate a reported burglary in progress. When the initial responding officer arrived, the reporting party invited the officer in to the residence. During this contact, the reporting party produced a weapon and pointed it at the officer. The officer addressed the reporting party and was able to take him into custody without further incident. The reporting party, 35 year old David Bewall, was arrested for felony menacing. The weapon was found to be a realistic looking BB handgun. The reported burglary was unfounded.
