On 02/12/2024, at 7:57 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Falcon Division, were dispatched to the intersection of Dublin Blvd and Vincent Dr regarding a single vehicle roll over crash. Upon arrival witnesses had removed the single occupant of the vehicle and were performing CPR. Members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department and AMR arrived on scene and continued life saving efforts. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to their injuries while on scene. Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. It is early in the investigation and the cause of the crash is still being determined at this time.

On 02/11/24 Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Zamora Cir for a shots fired call for service. Upon arrival they located a male victim with a gunshot wound in a vehicle that had crashed into another vehicle. Numerous shell casings were located at the scene. The victim is expected to survive his injuries. The investigation is still active and ongoing.

Location
Suspect and victim were involved in a domestic disturbance outside a house in the 1900 block of S. Prospect St. The victim ran away and attempted to get help from a neighbor across the street. The suspect temporarily lost sight of her, ran back to his house, came back out, got into a vehicle, and backed out of the driveway and into a neighbor's parked car. The suspect got out of the car, attempted to break into the home across the street he thought his girlfriend was hiding in. That homeowner fired a single shot, striking the suspect. The female victim was a block away and walking away at the time. The suspect then drove off at a high rate of speed and eventually made his way to the downtown area. The suspect struck a parked car and crashed into several businesses along the 200 block of N. Tejon St causing a significant amount of damage. The suspect was arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault, burglary, and several traffic charges. The suspect is currently in the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Crash Alert status as of February 10, 2024. at 5:16AM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go online at coloradosprings.gov/police, click on “Online Reporting” and select “Cold Reporting: Report a Minor Traffic Accident” for instructions. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them. Drivers should use streets and roadways less hazardous in winter driving conditions. Drivers also need to remove snow and ice obstructing their vision and have adequate snow tires on their vehicles.

5200 Mark Dabling Blvd.

On 02/05/024 at 10:00AM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center received a couple of 911 calls regarding a male on the edge of a bridge over Monument Creek near the 5200 block of Mark Dabling Blvd. The male reportedly had a rope around his neck and was making suicidal statements. When officers arrived they found a small group of good Samaritans had begun consoling the suicidal male and had talked him off the edge. The Colorado Springs Police Department wanted to thank the unknown citizens who came to the aid of someone in great distress. This situation may have ended much differently had they not called 911 and intervened.

Around 1:00AM, officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 2400 block of Arlington Dr for a report of a store robbery and a carjacking. The carjacked vehicle was a 2006 Honda Pilot. Officers continued to check the area and around 2:00AM located the vehicle going northbound on I-25. After exiting at Voyager, the vehicle ran a red light and officers initiated a pursuit, which ended with a low-speed PIT maneuver in the 12000 block of Oracle Bl. The driver was the sole occupant and was taken into custody and positively identified as the same suspect in the robbery and carjacking. Neither the suspect nor officers were injured. The suspect was identified as Dexter Jackson, a 23-year-old male, who was later booked into CJC on multiple felony counts of Aggravated Robbery, Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, and Menacing.

Intersection of Laclede Avenue and Lorraine Street

On Thursday, February 8, at approximately 4:52 PM, the Colorado Springs police department received a call for service regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic crash near the intersection of Laclede Avenue and Lorraine Street. The pedestrian was walking their dog when a vehicle struck them. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was contacted by officers on the scene. CSPD detectives responded to the scene assume responsibility of the investigation. This is still an active and ongoing investigation; anyone with information regarding this case or witness to this incident are asked to contact CSPD at 719-444-7000 or Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers.
